At PLT Health Solutions, our awareness of the need for equitable, sustainable business practices has grown out of a 70-year concern with human health & well-being – delivered via the plant-based and botanical solutions that we bring to market. Philanthropy and sustainable practice come naturally to us, and we realize it is necessary for our success.
PLT has been focused on providing high-quality educational opportunities for communities in India and South Africa – where we source some of our most important raw materials. We have provided funding and organizational support for a digital learning platform called the MINDSPARK Learning System.
The MINDSPARK Learning System empowers students in local communities to start learning at their proper level and progress based on what they know and what they don’t know. This is accomplished through state-of-the-art data analytics, artificial intelligence, and gamification helps to improve literacy and numeracy - key building blocks for long-term educational success.
PLT’s goal is to reach over one million children with this program by 2030. To learn more or find out how you can help, visit MINDSPARK.org
PLT Health Solutions has been providing strategic support to Ei MINDSPARK to enable the integration of innovative educational technology in schools to improve learning outcomes of children from underserved communities. A major focus has been the funding of translation of MINDSPARK software into local languages and its access to children. To date, this has allowed the implementation of MINDSPARK for over 1 million children in five states of India and one district in South Africa.
In three separate projects, PLT funded the translation of MINDSPARK content into the Telugu language. These projects included the Andhra Pradesh PAL Project, the Telangana PAL Project, Project Nanhi Kali and the Amazon Wonder Girls Programme and have run from 2019 to 2023.
Andhra Pradesh PAL Project: With support from the Andhra Pradesh government who provided hardware, MINDSPARK Telugu was implemented in 20 government schools of state where 3,000 children had access to MINDSPARK in the year 2019-2020. The 20 schools in Andhra Pradesh restarted in 2022-2023 with support from the government with an aim for a large-scale adoption upon impact in upcoming academic year.
Telangana PAL Project: MINDSPARK Telugu online was provided to children through their smartphones during COVID-19 school closures. More than 3,500 children in grade 9 used MINDSPARK-Telugu in the year 2020-2021.
Project Naandi Kali: The Naandi Foundation has been using MINDSPARK Telugu since October 2020 catering to 13,133 Nanhi Kalis (girl children in grades 1-9) studying in after school learning centres run by Naandi Foundation in Vishakhpatnam in India. PLT is supporting a project providing MINDSPARK access to 39,000 government and private school children in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra under the Bharat Ed-Tech Initiative. The one-year project is co-funded by MSDF and Paul Flowerman through the Mona Foundation. In the 2022-2023 year, MINDSPARK is being used by 55,531 students in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh. The focus of this year is on improving learning outcomes of children at scale, creating awareness of educational technology among communities, and experimenting with different approaches to integrate EdTech at home.
