Aframomum Melegueta
Aframomum melegueta is a species in the ginger family, Zingiberaceae, and closely related to cardamom. Melegueta is a Portuguese word that means ‘chili pepper’.
A Botanical Native to West Africa.
Ground or whole, Aframomum melegueta seeds are used as a spice and feature prominently in West African cooking. It is considered a food in the USA (ODI) and Europe.
Clinical Study: Clinical Support for Enhanced Mood and Improved Sleep
Thirty participants, aged 40 to 50 years (44% women) were randomized into a placebo-controlled cross-over study featuring different doses of Vanizem versus a placebo. Vanizem was found to significantly (p<0.05) improve self-reported perceptions of tension, depression, vigor and total mood disturbance (TMD) score in a dose-dependent manner. Supplementation with Vanizem at doses over 100mg was seen to improve sleep quality scores after just 2 doses versus placebo (p<0.05).

A Standardized, Assured Identity Ingredient
To assure you of the highest quality ingredient available, PLT-supplied Vanizem extract undergoes multiple qualifying tests. Vanizem is made with an ethanolic-extract to preserve actives the botanical actives. It is standardized at 10% of total Vanilloids and 1.5 % of 6-paradol.
The Nektium ID Assessment Program
Nektium’s Quality Assurance team conducts multiple identity tests on every batch of Vanizem, including macroscopic and sensorial analysis, the development of chromatographic profiles and independent DNA barcode analysis. The resulting HPLC ‘fingerprint’ of the Vanizem extract is consistent from batch to batch.
